Unbeatable experience! We had such a fabulous stay in this eclectic, charming and cozy space. The owner has to be one of the nicest and most interesting humans we've ever met. We were sad when it came time to head home but will look forward to visiting again soon. I loved all the furnishings, fixtures, art and antiques. It was truly unique and we felt right at home. Thank you for everything!

What a special place. We wish we could have stayed longer . Between the amazing decor (antiques, vintage lamps and other unique items), the inviting/relaxing courtyard area and the host’s (Greg) tips regarding the city, I cannot wait until we can get back to Redding and stay here again. Thank you for the recommendations for dinner and sharing your “secret” spot to get good inexpensive wines.

I agree with the other reviewers, I almost don't want to let the secret out. I stayed two nights over the Memorial Day holiday and my experience was perfect. Greg, the Innkeeper/ owner was fantastic; responsive and kind. The house is beautifully appointed with antiques and the room was spacious and bed & linens were comfortable. I loved the view of the river and railroad trestle. The home has two rooms and while the other room was occupied for one of the nights, I didn't hear a thing. The area is quiet in the evenings, the room was super quiet, and the home has off-street, well lit parking. Greg provided coffee in the morning (with a selection of creamer options) and the kitchen has a full size refrigerator for guest use as well as utensils and dishes for guests. I used the fridge for bottle water and take-out leftovers and had plenty of room. The outdoor area is lovely and oasis like. I loved it here and will definitely book again.

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights. We took both rooms and had the house to ourselves. What an incredible experience! The host was fantastic! The house was really amazing! Decorated with nautical antiques which were incredibly interesting. The lighting was perfect. A really unique experience. You also got a decent view of the river and huge binoculars to look at the river's wildlife. Beds were comfortable and the blackout curtains truly black out the light. We had no problems sleeping in late. If we ever get back to Redding we will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it!

The Desmond House was the first stop on our honeymoon and I'm so thrilled we picked it. The house is so quaint, peaceful and homey. There are so many beautiful antiques throughout to look at. I loved the eclectic decor as I'm sure every piece has a story. The keeper of the house, Gregory was so accommodating, friendly and obviously a great baker as the breakfast pastry was amazingly delicious. My only regret.... we didn't stay longer. Would definitely stay again and recommend!!

The Desmond House Bed and Breakfast is lovely, immaculately clean and one of the most interesting we've stayed at. We loved the attention to detail, the lighting was just marvelous and the decor, furniture, carpeting, WW2 memorabilia, and more... The landscape was peaceful and luscious. The fire in the patio was inviting and was a nice respite from hours of travel, along with the shared wine from our host, Greg and his sidekick, the adorable Buddy. Good continental breakfast and excellent coffee started our morning and Greg was just a wonderful and interesting host. This is more than just a place to stay. It's an experience you DON'T want to miss!
