The Red Lion Hotel Redding receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its value, location, and friendly staff, particularly highlighting the pool and exercise room. However, numerous reviews detail significant issues including inadequate AC, hot and humid rooms, maintenance problems, security concerns, and unresponsive staff. Recent reviews suggest a decline in hotel condition and service.
Oh boy... The room I was in got to 81 degrees because there was NO AC despite being advertised as having AC. We were given a dusty and dirty fan by the very dismissive mechanic who even said "It's hot in here..?" As I was actively growing more nauseous from it. Stayed one night then left for the Super8 down the road which was so very much better. My husband got so sick from the heat he was throwing up, which is why we opted to leave this horrid hotel.
The Red Lion Hotels are amazing . Fitness rooms for the gym enthusiast. Comfortable, spacious rooms . Staff have been friendly & receiving. I would recommend for any family and individuals alike .
The room was terrible. Hot and humid in January. The air in the room was ridiculously loud. We had to choose between stuffy and loud. When we requested to check out a night early, we were told no and the desk clerk had no interest in resolving anything. I will not stay here again.
Hotel is going thru a refresh and our room was beautiful but far from the lobby and only accessible by the outside in the rain. Breakfast was very good although not free, was more than worth the $8.95 price.
The most severe complaint I have is that the door entrance on the backside of hotel nearest the gas station doesn't click shut, STAY SECURED!!! This hotel doesn't have an elevator and when you book the stay there isn't any indication of this!!! You can open the door without the entree card!!!! This is unsafe. The room was quiet, except for the heater/air conditioning unit. There isn't a fan in the bathroom. Also it is dark and has a musty odor. I decided after at least 4 stays at this hotel that I will no longer stay here.
Dated, dingy and dark is the best way to describe this hotel. It wasn't terrible but not definitely not what's advertised. Staff were friendly enough and obviously have nothing to do with so much of the room equipment not working. It would have been nice if they at least attempted to correct their shortcomings and faulty appliances (i.e., coffee maker and TV) but it's ultimately not their fault the place hasn't been updated or maintained. It's clean and safe enough to sleep comfortably but I'm not sure how they got their 3 stars
This hotel was in a great location. It is near most eateries and places to do around town. The downside of it, it felt like a cheap stay. Hotel feels old. Iron wasn’t working. The people who were above us were loud and people were also loud in the hall past 10pm. Our beds felt like it was sandy. Some of the doors to the hotel (needed keycard to open) were propped opened late at night which didn’t feel safe for us at all. The only positive side, front desk was kind and friendly. Won’t be staying here again.
This was the cheapest feeling stay I have personally experienced in a hotel that is large enough to have conference rooms and a restaurant. It would have been an okay experience for a quick stay at a no-name motel in the mountains. AC is very loud and blasts air like a wind tunnel; walls are incredibly thin- I could hear someone’s hotel phone ringing from 4 am to 7 am; hallway fire alarm went off at 2 am and when I asked about it at checkout the front desk worker simply said yeah, that happens all the time. There was also noticeable mold in the corners of the shower and bathroom and under the bed was filthy. (Call me crazy but when I have a slipper escape, I prefer to track it down without battling an army of dust bunnies.) Overall it just scraped by as acceptable. I would not recommend or be eager to return.
Value is 5 star but I can’t stay on regular basis. I work mobile and they won’t take a cash deposit. I stay in too many hotels to have money tied up on my card everywhere I go. As a Diamond member choice does not hold deposit on me. Comparing apples to apples or same price hotels in Redding, this one has good value. Clean, comfortable, medium to large outdoor pool 3’ to 8’ deep. Also a bar but closed on NFL Sunday which is surprising to me. Hire a Sunday prime bartender during football season and advertise. There is only one sports bar in town. Riddicks sports bar. Very unfortunate for me I have to stay somewhere else. Choice hotels in Redding are dives.
It is comfortable with a nice pool and exercise room. The only negative we experienced was the loudness of the air conditioner. When it comes on, you can't hear the TV. We were on the ground floor which was nice because we could park outside of our room and move things in and out of our car by using the sliding glass door.
