The TownePlace Suites Redding receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the spacious rooms and convenient amenities like kitchenettes and friendly staff, while others highlight significant issues with cleanliness, outdated facilities, and concerning safety hazards. Recent reviews reveal a decline in overall quality and maintenance.
Families with small children - beware. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which was extremely convenient, and we expected to be repeat customers each summer since we were in town for a sporting event that happens annually but that will no longer be the case. Our 1.5 year old toddler sustained an injury from the oven here. Not because it was on, or because he wasn't being watched, etc. In a split second with my back turned while packing his diaper bag, he was easily able to open the oven just enough to get his fingers caught and smashed which led to enough bleeding and a trip to the ER for stitches. This also consequently made us miss our other child's event which was the reason we were in town to begin with. The oven is OLD with no option to lock, and has an exposed and dangerous edge. When we brought this up to the manager, instead of offering any type of compensation or apology, he filed a claim with his insurance company. After nearly $2k in medical bills, we followed up and the insurance company DENIED our claim BEFORE having any photographic evidence. We have a $2K bill for an injury that could have been prevented if a) I had the option to get hands and eyes attached to the back of me and b) if this "family friendly" room were actually set up for families with small and curious children. I shouldn't have to plan and pack baby proofing gear for oven casualties when I go to a Marriott, but this experience has definitely made me more picky and more distrustful of Marriott. The room also smelled like animal pee but I wasn't even going to complain about that.
A great place for an extended stay. All of the staff are incredible and make the stay very well worth it. Breakfast is great and choices are good. Love that they are renovating the rooms now. Can’t wait to be back. Would highly recommend this location! Devan is one of the best, if not the best, associate ever!
A very friendly hotel with all suites in every room! Our room 222 was pretty clean and was glad the AC was running well! There were a little bit of non-functioning items inside the rooms such as the dome lights and maybe one of the dimmer switches and one of the office desk lights not working but those are accessories and don't really affect much. There are also seems to be a little bit of noise coming from upstairs neighbors too walking around... I really liked how well stocked the kitchen is complete with the fridge, dishwasher and all of the dishes and pots and pans needed. I also like the fact they also have some Tupperware for those who cook in the room and on the go too! The Wi-Fi is also very fast as well. I can't say the same for the TV size however with how small it is, but fair given its position within the room. The staff is very friendly and will help you get anything you need such as razors and toothpaste! Pool is heated well but no hot tub... Breakfast is from 5 AM - 9:30 AM with some coffee and juices on offer looks like. The gym is a little small but does the job well and i like theres a basket in the Laundromat for $2 for each washer and dryer. Overall its a pretty nice and quiet location away from some major blvd's and streets but can see if its slightly cumbersome to get into.
First, I can’t even remotely understand how this hotel is rated 4.4 stars. There is now way. I was given a room on the fourth floor. When I opened the door, it smelled like a bug bomb had just been released. It was so strong I couldn’t even go into the room. I was then given an “upgraded” room on the third floor. When I entered the room it was obviously smoked in. The lingering stale smoke wasn’t going to work for me. So, back down to the front desk I went. I was then given another “upgraded” room on the second floor. This room smelled like it had been treated for insects maybe earlier in the day or the day before. It didn’t knock you over, but it lingered in the back of your throat. The carpet was filthy. The walls looked like they were either really dirty or they tried touching up the paint with a different shade of paint. The furniture arms and cushions were black and absolutely grimy. The wood in the room was battered and chipped. After working for about 20 minutes, I couldn’t stop coughing. That was it. I left. I’m now in the Hilton Garden Inn where the experience is very different. I’ve married the Marriott brand; however, there is now way I would ever stay at this Towneplace Suites. There are other options in Redding. I would look into one of those
I had a mixed experience at this property. On the positive side, the staff were excellent — especially Casey at check-in, who was friendly and efficient. I stayed in a two-bedroom suite and appreciated that each bedroom and the living area had its own climate control. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and most surfaces (bathroom, kitchen counters, microwave, fridge, dishwasher) were clean. However, the oven was dirty, and the overall condition of the room and hotel felt very worn. There were stains on the carpet, nicks on furniture and cabinets, and the arms of the sofa were noticeably grimy. A comforter was oddly left on the floor of one of the closets, and there was no luggage rack in the room, which I normally use. The living room TV was also too small for the space — hard to see from the sofa. Breakfast was average: standard options like waffles, cereal, and bagels, but the bananas were under-ripe and the fired eggs looked a bit sad. I’ve stayed at many Bonvoy properties across the country, and unfortunately, this is the most rundown one I’ve seen. That said, the staff were great and I got a good night’s sleep. If the management puts some effort into updating and deep-cleaning the place, it could be a solid stay. If you’re interested in seeing photos, check my yelp review of this property.
Great hotel to stay at. Good breakfast, and good rooms to stay and relax and sleep too. The staff was friendly and even the employee was offering me a tray for my 2 plates of breakfast which was so polite and generous. Good job you guys.
This is such a great hotel! long term stays are made easy with the amazing rooms, and they are pet friendly! Rhonda was a joy to work with, and really made us feel like they were invested in our experience!
They let me park my U-Haul trailer on the street because all the large parking was taken. It was perfect. Food was ok. Beds and pillows even better.
This hotel was formerly my go-to place to stay in Redding. The staff has always been so kind and helpful, the accommodations clean and welcoming...however, it is not the place it once was. While all the staff we encountered were still outstandingly friendly and helpful the hotel itself is beyond showing it's age. Everything is run down, dirty or lack luster. Stains on the flooring, leaking plumbing under the sink (which staff confirmed is a regular occurrence), cobwebs and bugs in the room, dingy palor on the towels, mold/mildew in the showers/tubs, stove tops/corners/lampshades/phones damaged or in disrepair. While the room size and wonderful staff provide a couple of points for this TPS now, everything else is a hard pass and I have no intention of being back or recommending to others looking in the area.
Perfect for going to lassen national park. It was an hour to hour and a half to get there. Rooms are outdated and beds could use new mattresses. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Breakfast is your usual some hot and cold offerings. Outdoor pool looked clean but we didn’t have time to use it.
